Dubarry Women’s Open Keelboat Championship 2020 Dates to be confirmed
WOKC is a popular and fun weekend regatta supporting female sailors. The racing is serious and competitive, the frocks and flip-flops party is unmissable and the atmosphere both on and off the water is fun and friendly. All teams must compete with a fully female crew. Male support crews and party-goers are of course welcome.
The Dubarry Women’s Open Keelboat Championship 2020 welcomes teams from sports boats through to production racer/cruisers. One design classes such as J80s will be considered subject to suitable class numbers. We hope you will join us and support women in sailing.
If you are a boat owner/skipper registration is now open via Eventbrite and a link is available on the homepage. If you need help finding crew please let us know.
If you are a crew member looking for a boat, please register using the ‘Crew Expression of Interest’ option and we will endeavour to assist you.
FAQs
How do I Enter ?
You can register your interest now via the link on the homepage and formal entries will be opening soon via the Hamble River Sailing Club website. We will add further links shortly to take you to a page where you can enter the regatta and purchase tickets for the frocks and flipflops party
What type of yachts can enter the regatta?
We welcome a range of boats based on IRC ratings. The IRC parameters will be included the Notice of Race. In previous years, the regatta has comprised either two or three classes, the class splits will be determined based on the entries received.
What is the regatta format?
Friday evening includes the optional (but recommended) briefing at Hamble River Sailing Club (HRSC). We intend to run 6 races (subject to weather) on Saturday and Sunday under the management of the HRSC race committee. Our famous frocks and flip-flops party is the not-to-be-missed highlight of Saturday evening!
Is registration the same as entry?
The registration page on Eventbrite provides the organisers with an expression of interest. This helps us to plan the event, work out numbers and asses the likely class splits. By registering via our website you are not committed to entering. Equally, once registered, you will still need to enter and pay via HRSC later (don’t worry – we’ll remind you!)
What does entry include?
In addition to race participation throughout the regatta, entry includes a Friday evening race and weather briefing (with nibbles), a Sunday afternoon prize-giving and a goodie-bag for each entry.
Where do I park my boat?
Hamble River offers multiple berthing options. Unfortunately berthing isn’t included in the entry fee, but please contact one of the many local marinas if you need berthing.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Hamble is easily accessed by road (M27 exit 8) or regular high-speed trains from London Waterloo to Southampton (or Southampton Airport Parkway) which is just a short taxi hop away. There are several pay & display carparks close to the marina, or free of charge street parking a short walk away.
Where can I contact the organisers with any questions?
