We have less than a week to go until the RS21 World Championship! Teams are getting ready and boats are already arriving in Biograd Na Moru. From 3 to 6 November, 40 teams worldwide will come together to race in the world-class RS21.
Sailors can expect to have as much fun onshore as they will on the water. With lots of social opportunities to rub shoulders with fellow sailors, the event will start with an Official Opening Ceremony on Wednesday evening and end in style with a Regatta Dinner on the Saturday. To keep fair racing developing from last year, the International Jury will be afloat, acting as umpires to ensure more time is spent socialising onshore and less time discussing incidents on the water.
Team Poland currently have four teams entered to represent their nation. One team from Yacht Club Sopot, we spoke to Robert, team mentor and crew motivation lead, to find out more.
“We are a team performing in honour of Yacht Club Sopot. Since the 2021 season, we participated in the Polish Club Sailing Championship, a series of All-Polish league regattas on 9 RS21 boats. Four rounds in Sopot, Gdynia, Szczecin and Warsaw. The organiser uses an interchangeable formula to provide the boats. With live coverage under the support of the Polish Yachting Association.
The most experienced in our team, in terms of sailing regatta and sailing short distance races is our skipper Jaroslaw Radzki (Jarek), who in 2019 was the fastest in the European Championships held on Lake Sniardwy, (Poland) where he became the European Champion DN class on iceboats. The rest of the team for many years participate in the league competition RS21, Delphia 24 in Trojmiasto, Poland. It can be said that we are an amateur team that combines racing sports with ocean and sea sailing, like Rolex Middle Sea race, Caribbean 600, S&H Race in Australia and many others.
This year we had our first sponsor company OMIDA Logistics. Here the link to our Facebook page.”
